The month of October marks a focus on workplace safety. Safe Work Australia (SWA) is an Australian government statutory body established in 2008 to develop national policy relating to WHS and worker’s compensation.

An inclusive, tripartite body, SWA work in partnership with governments, unions, employers and employees to shape national policy development. The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012–2022 provides a framework to drive improvements in work health and safety in Australia.

This October, register your commitment to improving workplace safety. Enrol your team in First Aid training with multi-award winning Corporate First Aid Australia.

Empowering your team with a first aid qualification raises everyone’s awareness of potential workplace safety hazards. It will better enable your employees to assist themselves and others in emergency situations.

According to the US National Library of Medicine research experiment, “The effect of first aid training on Australian construction worker’s occupational health and safety motivation and risk control behaviour’, it appears that not only does first aid training enhances participant’s motivation to avoid occupational injuries and illness, but it improves risk control behaviour.

Rather than deliver training to a small number of designated ‘first aiders’ equipping all workers is far more beneficial and increases overall workplace safety behaviours.
