The GEN website launched by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 12 months ago, provides unprecedented detail and access to Australia’s aged care information and data breakdowns.

Designed as a one-shop stop, the objective of the website is to benefit older people, their families, researches and everyone requiring details on aged care.

“The GEN website uses easy to understand language and illustrations to report on capacity and activity in the aged care system, including people’s care needs, assessments and the services they use,” said the Hon. Ken Wyatt.

The good news doesn’t stop there. The Turnbull Government Federal Budget, has ensured that the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, will receive 5.5 billion, maintaining support for the aged to live independently in their own homes, for another two years, from 9 July 2018.

“As the Minister responsible for Aged Care, I have seen first-hand the enormous benefits of this program, and how it helps older Australians remain independent and in their own home for longer. Australians want to remain in their homes as they age, it feels familiar, it’s where we feel safe and it’s the one place we can call our own. That is why I was so pleased to be able to advocate for and secure funding certainty for this program over the next two years” said Minister Wyatt.
