MERRY CHRISTMAS...

To all our clients we wish you all the very best for Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the New Year. We're just putting the finishing touches on our training calander so keep your eye out in the paper for our upcoming schedule! We will be running a variety of courses from our Health, Training and Assessment and Business packages as well as the addition of Occupational Health and Safety in 2012.

We look forward to seeing you then.

New courses commencing in October - special prices exclusive to October only!

August and September has had us busy preparing for the launch of our new courses this month. We are pleased to say we now have the Certificate 4 Training and Assessment (TAE40110) and the Certificate 4 Frontline Management (BSB40807) qualifications available for you.

I'm also excited to introduce you to our newest member of staff - Marie Anderson. Marie has many years industry experience in Training and Business and is looking forward to delivering her two new portfolios this month.

We realise our Clients are busy people with busy jobs! After many hours of industry consultation we have decided to structure our course delivery schedule a little differently from other training providers. We all know the challenges of keeping up with daily tasks at work and the thought of taking 2 weeks straight away from work to complete a course is enough to make any person shudder! Imagine your inbox after 2 weeks of neglect...

Here's what we propose for you busy folks.

Certificate IV Training and Assessment - TAE40110. Three clusters for a total of 8 days.

Cluster one:   (3days) - Assessment
Cluster two:   (3days) - Delivery
Cluster three: (2 days) - Design

Two weeks in between each cluster to go back to work, put into practice what you have learnt and clear out your inbox!

Certificate IV Frontline Management - BSB40807. Six days total.

We think completing all ten units required in a row is just not sensible! How about one day per month (for a total of 6 sessions) instead? That way you can actually put into practice what you have learnt in a reasonable timeframe to see how it works within your organisation. Questions along the way? Call Marie! We do not charge for advice. Our follow up service is FREE!!!

But, if you do like to get things done at your own pace (whatever that may be) you always have the option of self paced delivery. We want you to learn at a pace that suits you - not us.

Please call our office 1300 177337 if you would like any more information.

Cheers
Jane :)

Brrr it's chilly...

Well it certainly is cold at the moment and what wild wooly weather we are having. The wind has been fierce and so have the downpours. It has been a very busy time for us with training as many of our regular Clients in the traffic and construction industries have been 'rained off'. Employers have found themselves in the situation of having staff unable to perform their regular duties due to the inclement weather. So I have had many calls to conduct onsite training at short notice to train new workers and refresh existing qualifications. The general consensus is that all have enjoyed being inside away from the chill for something different than the day to day and having fun was also a bonus!

The topic of hypothermia (cold exposure) was understandably high on the list of topics. Hypothermia may be classed as;

Mild hypothermia - shivering, pale, cool skin, slower thinking, poor co-ordination, irritable, confused (35 - 34 degrees C)
Moderate hypothermia - shivering ceases, increased confusion, muscles become more rigid, breathing and heart rate slow (33-30 degrees C)
Severe hypothermia - unconscious, heart arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, may appear dead, pupils fixed and dilated (<30 degrees C)

FIRST AID

IF NOT SHIVERING IF UNCONSCIOUS
For moderate to severe hypothermia DO NOT rewarm too quickly, rub or massage extremities, use radiant heat (fire/electric heater), give alcohol or place in hot bath. If you're wondering why then just give us a call and we'll explain!

To avoid any of the above, let's stay warm and dry on these chilly days...

January 2011

Welcome to the new year! I wonder if it'll fly by as quick as last year did? I would like to thank all my clients, both corporate and individual, for attending training with us last year. I look forward to meeting many new people in 2011.

2011 brings new changes  from the Australian Resuscitation council - most importantly to the way we perform CPR. For those who learnt this valuable skill with me last year you'll be amazed to learn they have changed a couple of things yet again, and believe it or not it has got even easier to learn CPR!!! It is so simple already I'm amazed they were able to make it even easier to perform and remember! Please visit their website at www.resus.org.au to view changes.

We have some fantastic new equipment on it's way to make our scenario based training even more fun and educational. Looking forward to the arrival of 'Choking Charlie' who will enjoy being saved from choking on a regular basis I am sure! Also coming is our life size resuscitation manikin which will enable us to perform extra skills valuable in assessment and treatment of injury.

I look forward to seeing you all this year.

November 2010

Well as you can see I have been so busy training the South West that I haven't been able to keep up with my blog!

Am away training in Albany at the moment so more to come when I get back to the office...

August 2010

Well August has come and gone and seen the arrvial of 73 new Senior First Aiders! Lots of fun was had at our courses. It's great to see so many people from different work areas. I enjoy learning things about other people and their various job roles and hear lots of different stories about first aid experiences both at work and things that have occurred from just life in general!

I have also enjoyed a trip up to Waroona and a fun day training with the guys at Wagerup Civil. Luch and morning/arvo tea was also fantastic - Cheers Anne!!!

And locally I have had the pleasure of training some more folks from the Main Roads Department here in Bunbury and Southern Road Services. I look forward to hearing how your fishing trip went Tom when I see you for the next course in September!

And a big thanks to Andy from Civilcon for finding some tools to tighten up my battery leads on my vehicle so I could restart it! Hmmm not sure what occured at it's first service? It was too far to walk back to office from Picton with all my first aid gear!!!

July 2010

Thanks to Jasmine and Samantha for inviting me to conduct a first aid course at the Hudson Road Family Centre. It's a great facility if anyone is looking to conduct some training! The course was held yesterday with 10 people participating. It was a nice small group and we all had a great time. Even though the weather has been very cold and wet lately we were very lucky to have a beautiful sunny day which allowed us to conduct the scenario training outside. There was a few interested looks from the bus driver who had come to pick up another group of people who were using the other training room for the day. I don't think he was expecting a group of people moulaged with 'injuries' playing on the grass! Steven and Elle were also performing CPR on poor old resus Annie and zapping her with the defibrillator at the time. Best wishes goes out to Hayley who has recently completed her training as a ZUMBA Instructor. She is currently getting her studio ready for an August launch in Australind. Anyone needing a fitness class with music and heaps of fun give Hayley a call on 0416223567! Wow July went by quickly! Am looking forward to meeting lots of new people in the upcoming August courses...
